The Agua Dulce Volunteer Fire Department (also operating as Nueces Jim Wells County ESD No. 5), is committed to providing reliable emergency response and fire protection services to the residents and businesses of the Agua Dulce area. Through the dedication of volunteer firefighters and emergency personnel led by Chief Wayne Wursthorn, the department works to protect lives, property, and the community's quality of life. From emergency response and fire suppression to public safety education and community outreach, the department proudly serves as a trusted resource for the citizens it protects.
Working in partnership with the Agua Dulce Volunteer Fire Department, Nueces Jim Wells County ESD No. 5 provides funding, oversight, and long-term planning to help maintain the personnel, equipment, facilities, and training necessary for effective emergency response. In an Emergency, the Fastest Way to Get Help Is Through 911
When an emergency happens, every second matters. Whether you are reporting a fire, medical emergency, vehicle accident, hazardous situation, or any other urgent incident, always call 911 first.
Many people assume that calling the fire station directly or contacting a firefighter they know will get help faster. In reality, doing so can delay the emergency response. Fire stations are not staffed to answer emergency calls 24 hours a day, and individual firefighters may be off duty, unavailable, or unable to dispatch resources.
When you call 911, trained dispatchers immediately gather critical information, determine the type of emergency, and send the appropriate responders to your location. Dispatch centers coordinate fire, EMS, law enforcement, and other emergency resources to ensure the right help is sent as quickly as possible.
Calling 911 also creates an official record of the incident, provides responders with important details before they arrive, and ensures additional resources can be requested if needed.
